With over 20 years experience of raw food cuisine and it’s health benefits, Kirsty Wright previously known as Kirsty Hawkshaw follows an 80/20% rule in favour of raw eating. In this blog Kirsty shares some of her top tips for easy raw cuisine.
Kirsty is a fan of foraging for greens and likes to include weeds such as nettles, dandelion leaves, and many other free foods found locally in the beautiful Chiltern countryside into her diet.
“Today while I was out barefoot running, I passed a wonderful wild fennel plant so I nipped back later and picked some. Tonight i’ll be dehydrating some flax crackers using the fennel. You really can’t find fresher and more robust organic food than weeds that grow in the local area. Bread is constipating and highly addictive it can also contribute highly to gluten intolerance which is of epidemic proportion in todays society read more. I use my flax crackers in place of wheat based crackers and bread. I also love to grow my own greens but find that weeds have not been tampered with in anyway (as long as you don’t obviously blend ones that have been sprayed with monsanto weed killer ;). Hardy plants, make hardy blood!
